Barrie Metals/GEEP becomes Global Solutions Provider

Alfred Hambsch, President of the Barrie Metals/GEEP (Global Electric Electronic Processing) Group of Companies has today announced a major new investment in the Company which transforms his growing North American business into a Global E Scrap Recycling operation.

One51 plc of Dublin, Ireland, has become a 33 1/3% shareholder in Barrie Metals/GEEP recycling group thus creating a global solutions provider for electronic recycling and recovery.

One51 plc is a diversified business with operations in waste management,specialist treatment and recycling, alternative energy and infrastructure projects. In recent years One51 plc has made a considerable investment in the development of high level E Scrap recycling plants and is focussing to continue to build a global E Scrap recycling network. Immark Switzerland part of the One51plc Group is a leading European Electronic waste processor with 11 facilities in seven countries.

E Scrap or Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE) is the fastest growing waste stream in the world today. Collectively, there are over 1 Billion computers in use and 100,000 of these are scrapped every day in America alone. Add to this the mobile phones, electrical gadgets and games, TV’s and monitors plus all the other electrical items from washing machines to toasters used in a modern home and it can be easily understood why specialist recycling techniques are urgently needed to treat this enormous waste stream.

Barrie Metals has expended considerable resources building up its GEEP (Global Electric Electronic Processing) business into a major player in the North American market operating state of the art plants in Barrie Ontario, Edmonton, Alberta, Raleigh Durham, North Carolina and Dallas, Texas and several more projects well advanced.
