Barrie Metals as good as gold
Barrie Metals has earned the gold medal for export growth from the Ontario Chamber of Commerce.
It was one of 14 organizations from across the province named the best in business and export excellence by the OCC this week.
In a combined presentation of the Ontario Business Achievement Awards (OBAA) and the Ontario Global Traders Awards OGTA), companies were recognized for their outstanding leadership and contributions to the prosperity of the province.

Barrie Metals has entered an entirely new industry sector that can be described as 'e-waste end-of-life recycling.'
Just as it sounds - electronic items that have run the course of their productive lives are harvested for components that can be recycled.
Barrie Metals recovers various metal, plastic and glass commodities through different processing techniques and exports them to clients in the United States, China and other European and Asian countries. Barrie Metals refers to its approach as 'total loop recycling' and provides a destination for mothballed electronic products from public and private sector organizations in Central Ontario.
Tapping into this niche sector has enabled the company to grow its labour force by one-third in the last three years, with a similar increase in product sales.
